Michael Boyd (theatre Director)
Sir Michael Boyd HonFRSE (6 July 1955 – 3 August 2023) was a British theatre director and an artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Early years Michael Boyd was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on 6 July 1955. He was educated at Latymer Upper School in London, Daniel Stewart's College in Edinburgh, and at the University of Edinburgh, where he gained an M.A. in English Literature and performed with the Edinburgh University Drama Society. Career Boyd trained as a director at the Malaya Bronnaya Theatre in Moscow, and in 1979 took up his first post as a trainee director at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, graduating to Assistant Director a year later. In 1982, he joined the Sheffield Crucible as an Associate Director, where he directed Mayakovsky's ''Mystere Bouffe'' and the premiere of ''Commedia'' by Marcella Evaristi. Fellowship of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE) is an award granted to individuals that the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland's national academy of science and Literature, letters, judged to be "eminently distinguished in their subject". This society received a royal charter in 1783, allowing for its expansion. Forbes Masson
Forbes (Robertson) Masson (born 17 August 1963 in Falkirk) is a Scottish actor and writer. He is an Associate Artist with the Royal Shakespeare Company. He is best known for his roles in classical theatre, musicals, comedies, and appearances in London's West End. He is also known for his comedy partnership with Alan Cumming. Masson and Cumming wrote '' The High Life'', a Scottish situation comedy in which they play the lead characters, Steve McCracken and Sebastian Flight. Originally written in French, under the title ''Le Vrai Monde?'', it was later translated into English by John Van Burek and Bill Glassco. Michel Tremblay (born 25 June 1942) is a Canadian writer, novelist and playwright. Tremblay was born in Montreal, Quebec, where he grew up in the French-speaking neighbourhood of Plateau Mont-Royal; at the time of his birth, a neighbourhood with a working-class character and joual dialect - something that would heavily influence his work. Janice Galloway FRSL (born 1955 in Saltcoats, Scotland) is a Scottish writer of novels, short stories, prose-poetry, non-fiction and libretti. In 2023, she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Biography She is the second daughter of James Galloway and Janet Clark McBride. Her parents separated when she was four and her father died when she was six. Her sister Cora, sixteen years older, died in 2000 from smoking-related illness.
