Michael Parris (born October 4, 1957), aka Michael Anthony, is a retired boxer from Guyana, who competed in the bantamweight (54 kg) division at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Soviet Union. There he earned a bronze medal, becoming Guyana's first ever Olympic medalist. He was born in Georgetown, Guyana Georgetown is the capital (political), capital and largest city of Guyana. Boxing has been contested at every Summer Olympic Games since its introduction to the program at the 1904 Summer Olympics, except for the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, because Sweden, Swedish law banned the sport at the time.
