Welsh Government
The Welsh Government ( ) is the Executive (government), executive arm of the Welsh devolution, devolved government of Wales. The government consists of Cabinet secretary, cabinet secretaries and Minister of State, ministers. It is led by the First Minister of Wales, first minister, usually the leader of the largest party in the Senedd (Welsh Parliament; ), who selects ministers with the approval of the Senedd. Minister For Health And Social Services
The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care () is a cabinet position in the Welsh Government, currently held by Jeremy Miles since September 2024. The minister is responsible for the running of the NHS Wales, National Health Service in Wales, all aspects of public health and health protection in Wales, the Food Standards Agency in Wales, post-graduate medical education and any charges for NHS services. Thomas Middlehurst (born 25 June 1936) is a British retired politician who served as Flintshire County Council, Leader of Flintshire County Council from 1996 to 1999 and Minister for Education (Wales), Assembly Secretary for Education and Training in the National Assembly for Wales from 1999 to 2000. A member of the Welsh Labour, Labour Party, he was Assembly Member (Welsh Assembly), Assembly Member (AM) for Alyn and Deeside (Senedd constituency), Alyn and Deeside from 1999 until his retirement in 2003. Middlehurst was born in Ormskirk, Lancashire, England. He was educated at Ormskirk Grammar School, Wigan and Leigh College, Wigan Technical College and Liverpool Polytechnic, and in his early life lived in Skelmersdale. Dame Rosemary Janet Mair Butler (''née'' McGrath; born 21 January 1943) is a British politician who served as Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales (now Llywydd of the Senedd) from 2011 to 2016. A member of Welsh Labour, Butler was the Assembly Member (AM; now Member of the Senedd) for Newport West from 1999 to 2016. Serving briefly as Secretary for Education in the first two years of the Welsh Government, she was elected Deputy Presiding Officer in May 2007.
