''Miami Monthly'' was a South Florida, Southeast Florida's city/regional magazine, publishing news and information on the people, politics, life, culture and Style (visual arts), style of the greater Miami area. According to its website, the Miami Monthly is now defunct, with the last archives available on the Miami Monthly website being from 2010. History ''Miami Monthly'' evolved from a family of Community newspaper, community publications founded in 1997 by publisher Elena V. Carpenter. Appearing first as Tabloid (newspaper format), tabloid-size newspapers, the Coconut Grove Times, Brickell Post and South Miami Times grew into Glossy magazine, glossy city magazines that were combined into an expanded city/regional in 2005. John Dufresne
John Dufresne (born January 30, 1948) is an American author of French Canadian descent born in Worcester, Massachusetts. He graduated from Worcester State College in 1970 and the University of Arkansas in 1984. He is a professor in the Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing program of the English Department at Florida International University. In 2012, he won a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship for his work. Books Dufresne's first novel, ''Louisiana Power and Light'' (1994), was named as one of ''New York Times''' notable books of the year, as was his second novel, ''Love Warps the Mind a Little'' (1997). Dufresne's third novel, ''Deep in the Shade of Paradise'' (2002), was a Book Sense Top Ten of the Year selection.
