Metro Davao, officially Metropolitan Davao (; ), is a metropolitan area in Mindanao, Philippines. It includes the cities of Davao City, Davao, Digos, Panabo, Samal, Davao del Norte, Samal and Tagum and spanned parts of all five provinces of the Davao Region. Hagonoy, Davao Del Sur
Hagonoy, officially the Municipality of Hagonoy (; ), is a municipality in the province of Davao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 56,919 people. History Before its creation into a municipality, Hagonoy was a sitio of barrio Digos, municipality of Santa Cruz. Then, when the municipality of Padada was created on July 1, 1949, Hagonoy was annexed as one of its barrios. On May 28, 1953, by virtue of Executive Order No. 596 issued by President Elpidio V. Quirino, Hagonoy was separated from Padada and became a regular municipality.Then in early 1970's, batch of Cebuanos came from Danao City, particularly from Caputatan, among them Nathaniel Capuyan and Loselo Capuno Sr., who worked in the sugarcane plantations and settled in barangay Maliit Digos. The Philippines has three metropolitan areas officially recognized by the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) due to their prominence, population, size, and economy: Metro Manila, Manila, Metro Cebu, Cebu, and Metro Davao, Davao. Sulop, officially the Municipality of Sulop (; ), is a municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Davao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 35,151 people. History Once a swampy area surrounded by the second-growth forest, Sulop was inhabited by the natives of the Tagacaolo, B’laan, and Bagobo tribes. Santa Maria, officially the Municipality of Santa Maria (; ), is a municipality in the province of Davao Occidental, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 57,526 people. History Santa Maria was created as a municipality of Davao on June 18, 1966 out of 12 barangays and 15 barrios from Malalag, by virtue of Republic Act No. 4743. Padada, officially the Municipality of Padada (; ), is a municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Davao del Sur, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 29,878 people, making it the least populated municipality in the province. Its boundaries were defined by Republic Act No. 1008, approved June 12, 1954.
