''Stairway to Stardom'' is an early American music television program which aired 1950 to 1951 on New Jersey station WATV. It was among the first with an African-American host, though it was not a network program. Bill Cook, a radio disc jockey, was the host. According to an article titled "Bill Cook Sparks New Video Show" in a 1950 edition of newspaper ''The Pittsburgh Courier'', Bill Cook had stated that talent on the program would be "selected on the basis of ability and without regard to race, color or religion". The show is believed lost. A teleprinter (teletypewriter, teletype or TTY) is an electromechanical device that can be used to send and receive typed messages through various communications channels, in both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations. Newark Symphony Hall is a performing arts center located at 1020 Broad Street in Newark, New Jersey. Built in 1925, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. It was known for many years as The Mosque Theater, and is the former home of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey State Opera and the New Jersey Ballet Company. WNYM (970 AM) – branded "AM 970 The Answer" – is a commercial radio station licensed to Hackensack, New Jersey, and serving the New York metropolitan area. The station is owned by Salem Media Group and programs a conservative talk radio format. Its studios are shared with co-owned WMCA (570 AM) on Broadway in Lower Manhattan. By day, WNYM is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for U.S. AM stations. But at night, to avoid interference to other stations, WNYM reduces power to 5,000 watts.
