Methlan Park Football Club was an association football club based in the town of Dumbarton, in West Dunbartonshire. History The club was formed in 1883 as a somewhat "aristocratic" club, The club may have had links with the Temperance movement as it often held its meetings in the Lennox Temperance Hotel. The earliest recorded match for the club was at Victoria of Helensburgh in April 1885. Its first competitive match was in the Dumbartonshire Cup at home to Dumbarton Athletic in 1886–87 and ended in a 9–1 defeat, the Methlan goal being almost the last kick of the game. Undaunted, the club joined the Scottish Football Association in 1887 and entered the Scottish Cup for the first time in 1887–88. Although it suffered heavy defeats in both national and county competitions, the club rapidly improved, and in 1888–89 had its best run in both competitions. Kirkintilloch Central F
Kirkintilloch (; sco, Kirkintulloch; gd, Cair Cheann Tulaich) is a town and former barony burgh in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. It lies on the Forth and Clyde Canal and on the south side of Strathkelvin, about northeast of central Glasgow. Historically part of Dunbartonshire, the town is the administrative home of East Dunbartonshire council area, its population in 2009 was estimated at 19,700 and its population in 2011 was 19,689. Toponymy "Kirkintilloch" comes from the Gaelic ''Cair Cheann Tulaich'' or ''Cathair Cheann Tulaich'', meaning "fort at the end of the hill". This, in turn, may come from a Cumbric name, ''Caer-pen-taloch'', which has the same meaning. Alex Latta
Alexander Latta (1 September 1867 – 25 August 1928) was a Scottish footballer who made ten appearances, mostly at outside right, in Everton's Football League title winning side of 1890–91. Latta began his career with Dumbarton Athletic as a 14-year-old but moved to Everton in 1889. He was a tall and stocky outside right who displayed great pace and dribbling skills. Latta played twice for Scotland during his career. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League.
