Zhukovsky (, ) is a city in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the Moskva River, southeast of Moscow. Population: History The urban-type settlement of Stakhanovo was founded in 1935 from the dacha settlement Otdykh (literally, "Relaxation"). It was named after Alexey Stakhanov, a Russian miner of the Stalinist era. On April 23, 1947, the settlement was granted town status and renamed Zhukovsky, in honor of scientist Nikolay Zhukovsky. FC Saturn-2 Moscow Oblast
FC Saturn Moscow Oblast () was an association football club from Russia founded in 1991 and playing on professional level between 1993 and 2010. Since 2004 it was the farm club of FC Saturn Moscow Oblast. In early 2011, the parent club FC Saturn Moscow Oblast went bankrupt and dropped out of the Russian Premier League due to huge debts. However, Saturn-2 passed the licensing and participated in the Russian Second Division. Znamensky Memorial
The Brothers Znamensky Memorial () is an annual track and field competition which is held at the Meteor Stadium in Zhukovsky, Russia. The event is held in memory of Seraphim and Georgy Znamensky, the 1930s Soviet champions in long-distance running who died in 1942 and 1946, respectively. It was established in 1949, and received an international status in 1958, as only Soviet (Russian) athletes competed in 1949–1950 and 1998, and there was a break in the event between 1950 and 1958. Each edition features memorial races over distances from 1500 metres to 10,000 metres. The event has attracted many high-profile runners throughout the decades, from Gaston Roelants and Pyotr Bolotnikov to Kip Keino and Evgeni Ignatov, through to Noureddine Morceli and Daniel Komen.
