Destruction (band)
Destruction is a German thrash metal band formed in 1982. They are often credited as one of the "Big Four" of the German thrash metal scene, the others being Kreator, Sodom and Tankard. In addition to helping pioneer black metal by containing several elements of what was to become the genre, Destruction was part of the second wave of thrash metal in the mid-to-late 1980s, along with American bands like Testament, Sacred Reich, Death Angel and Dark Angel. For most of the 1990s, the band was not signed to a record label and was forced to self-produce their albums until they signed a contract with Nuclear Blast in the early 2000s. History The band was formed in Weil am Rhein as Knight of Demon in 1982, inspired by Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Motörhead and Venom (band), Venom. Morgoth (band)
Morgoth was a German death metal band that was formed in 1985 by Rüdiger Hennecke and Carsten Otterbach in Meschede. History Originally the band used the name Cadaverous Smell and they played grindcore / noise style music. When Harry Busse joined the band they renamed themselves to "Minas Morgul". In 1985 the band settled on Morgoth when singer and bass-player Marc Grewe joined the band. The name was derived from the epithet of the original dark lord Melkor in J.R.R Tolkien's Middle-earth Legendarium. They recorded the ''Pits of Utumno'' demo on four tracks in 1988, which eventually led to the band being signed with Century Media, which had just started. In 1989, Morgoth recorded their second demo ''Resurrection Absurd'' in a twenty-four-track studio, which was released by Century Media in the same year as an EP. Metallica
Metallica is an American heavy metal band. "Whiplash" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released as the first single from their debut album, '' Kill 'Em All'', and the band's debut single overall, released on January 23, 1984. The song has been covered a number of times, most notably by Motörhead, whose version won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The single also includes fake live performances of "Seek & Destroy" and "Phantom Lord", which are actually alternate studio recordings with overdubbed crowd noise. Thrash Metal
Thrash metal (or simply thrash) is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and often fast tempo.Kahn-Harris, Keith, ''Extreme Metal: Music and Culture on the Edge'', pp. 2–3, 9.
