Messaging Architects (MA) is a Canadian software company specializing in e-mail products. Their flagship product is Netmail, an integrated email management platform. History Launched in March 1995 as ChronoFAX, the company was a distributor of computer-based fax software. ChronoFAX became Tobit Software North America as result of a partnership with a German company called Tobit that produced fax software for the Novell NetWare and GroupWise markets. When the three-and-a-half-year partnership with Tobit ended, the company again renamed itself, as Messaging Architects. Messaging Architects initially provided add-ons for the Novell GroupWise messaging platform. Now the company offers an integrated email management platform called Netmail. Mark Crispin
Mark Reed Crispin (July 19, 1956 in Camden, New Jersey – December 28, 2012 in Poulsbo, Washington) is best known as the father of the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), having invented it in 1985 during his time at the Stanford Knowledge Systems Laboratory. He is the author or co-author of numerous RFCs and was the principal author of UW IMAP, one of the reference implementations of the IMAP4rev1 protocol described in RFC 3501. He also designed the MIX mail storage format. Crispin earned a B.S. in Technology and Society from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1977. Career From 1977 to 1988, he was a Systems Programmer at Stanford University. MIX (email)
MIX is a high-performance, indexed, on-disk email storage system that is designed for use with the IMAP protocol. MIX was designed by Mark Crispin, the author of the IMAP protocol. Server support for it has been included in releases of UW IMAP since 2006, Panda IMAP, and Messaging Architects Netmail. MIX is also supported directly by the Alpine e-mail client. Design MIX mailboxes are directories containing several types of files, including a metadata file, an index file, a dynamic status data file, a threading/sorting cache file, and a collection of files containing message content. In computing, the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is an Internet standard protocol used by email clients to retrieve email messages from a mail server over a TCP/IP connection. IMAP is defined by . Microsoft Exchange Server is a mail server and calendaring server developed by Microsoft. It runs exclusively on Windows Server operating systems.
