Merle Norman Building
The Merle Norman Building is a streamline moderne and art deco building in Santa Monica, California which was the former headquarters of Merle Norman Cosmetics located at 2525 Main Street. The building was designated as Santa Monica Historic Landmark #44 on June 10, November 11, 2002. The building was constructed by H.G. Streamline Moderne
Streamline Moderne is an international style of Art Deco architecture and design that emerged in the 1930s. Inspired by Aerodynamics, aerodynamic design, it emphasized curving forms, long horizontal lines, and sometimes nautical elements. In industrial design, it was used in railroad locomotives, telephones, buses, appliances, and other devices to give the impression of sleekness and modernity.
