Moths are a paraphyletic group of insects that includes all members of the order Lepidoptera that are not butterflies, with moths making up the vast majority of the order. Tortricidae
The Tortricidae are a family of moths, commonly known as tortrix moths or leafroller moths, in the order Lepidoptera. This large family has over 11,000 species described, and is the sole member of the superfamily Tortricoidea, although the genus '' Heliocosma'' is sometimes placed within this superfamily. Many of these are economically important pests. Olethreutidae is a junior synonym. The typical resting posture is with the wings folded back, producing a rather rounded profile. Notable tortricids include the codling moth and the spruce budworm, which are among the most well-studied of all insects because of their economic impact. Archipini
The Archipini are a tribe of tortrix moths. Since many genera of these are not yet assigned to tribes, the genus list presented here is provisional. Diversity Archipini is the largest tribe in the Tortricinae subfamily, containing over 1,600 described species in about 150 genera. Distribution Archipini are found in all ecoregions, although there are only few species in the Neotropical realm. Biology Many of the economically important pests among the tortrix moths belong to this tribe, for example the Light brown apple moth and the spruce budworms. The larvae are often polyphagous.
