The Naples Metro ( it, Metropolitana di Napoli; nap, Metrupulitana 'e Napule) is the rapid transit system serving the city of Naples, Italy. History In 1911, construction on the urban section of the Rome–Formia–Naples railway, the Villa Literno–Napoli Gianturco railway was commenced, and although it was suspended for the duration of World War I, the line was eventually opened on 28 September 1925 as an urban railway service line, the first in Italy. This service is now known as Line 2. After World War II, the existing Circumvesuviana railway was upgraded to a modern commuter rail, and also the Cumana railway became relevant for the commuter transport. Arco Mirelli is an underground metro station that serves Line 6 on the Naples Metro. The Arco Mirelli station, designed by the architect Hans Kollhoff, serves the areas of Via Caracciolo, the Villa Comunale (within which there is the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station), and the eastern part of the district Mergellina. The railway complex is located at the west end of the Villa Comunale near the monument to the Four Days of Naples in Piazza della Repubblica, and consists of two glass pavilions, with obvious reference to the original architecture of the gardens. An inclined elevator or inclined lift is a form of cable railway that hauls rail cars up a steep gradient. Introduction An inclined elevator consists of one or two inclined tracks on a slope with a single car on each carrying payload. In the case of a two-track configuration each car operates in a ''shuttle principle'': it moves up and down on its own track independently of the other car. A car is either winched up to the station on the top of the incline where the cable is collected on a winch drum. Mostra (Naples Metro)
Mostra is an underground metro station that serve Line 6 on the Naples Metro. It was opened on 4 February 2007 as part of the inaugural section of Line 6 between Mergellina and Mostra. The station, even though it is terminal, presents binary loops that end in the temporary storage of trains of Line 6, waiting for work to finish in the new one, which is why the two tracks are through. Since then show trains exclusively in the direction Mergellina. Located in the district of Fuorigrotta, the station is located near the Stadio San Paolo and some university faculties: in spite of all passenger movements is not as high as the other metro lines.
