Mererangi Paul
Mererangi Paul (born 29 October 1998) is a New Zealand rugby union player. She plays for Chiefs Manawa in the Super Rugby Aupiki competition and for Counties Manukau in the Farah Palmer Cup. Early career Netball & Touch rugby Paul played for the Northern Mystics in the ANZ Premiership, she debuted for them in the 2017 ANZ Premiership season. She also competed for the New Zealand Women's Open squad for the 2019 Touch Football World Cup in Malaysia. Rugby sevens Paul played her first sevens game for Rotoiti three weeks prior to Auckland's Red Bull Ignite7 competition in 2018. She was named as one of the top three women during the tournament and earned a spot at the Black Ferns Sevens National Development Camp for 2019. Paul also competed for the Surge Women's team in the 2020 Red Bull Ignite7's tournament in December. Mahina Paul
Mahina Paul (born 19 April 2001) is a New Zealand rugby sevens player. Rugby career Paul has represented New Zealand in touch rugby and at the Youth Olympic Games for rugby sevens in 2018. Paul made her Black Ferns Sevens international debut at the South Africa Sevens in Cape Town in 2019. She was one of three players who were handed professional contracts earlier that year. Hurricanes Poua are a New Zealand women's professional rugby union team based in Wellington, New Zealand that competes in the Super Rugby Aupiki competition. History Team name On 7 February 2022, The Hurricanes revealed the new name of their women’s team – Hurricanes Poua. The new team identity was developed collaboratively by a select committee that included past and present Black Ferns. They drew from preexisting Māori narratives, the team’s identity has a connection to both the Hurricanes region and their people. The name Poua was derived from the Māori narrative of Ranginui (sky father) and Papatūānuku (earthmother). 2023 Pacific Four Series
The 2023 Pacific Four Series was the third edition of the Pacific Four Series, an international women's rugby union tournament that served as one of the principal qualification routes for the top two tiers of WXV. The tournament was hosted by Spain, Australia and Canada. The series took place over three months. The first round saw Canada and the United States play the opening match in Madrid on 1 April 2023, followed by Australia hosting New Zealand on 29 June 2023 in Brisbane. The series concluded in Canada with all four teams competing over two weekends in early July for the title.
