Meredith Brooks
Meredith Ann Brooks (born June 12, 1958) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist best known for her 1997 hit song "Bitch", for which she was nominated for a Grammy Award. Career Brooks started her music career in 1976 as a member of an all-female band called Sapphire, based in Eugene, Oregon, touring and recording with CMS Records in the Pacific Northwest. Her bandmates were Janis Gaines, Cynthia Larsen, Patricia French and Pam Johnson. Seeking greater success, Brooks pushed the band to move to Seattle without Gaines on keyboards, reducing Sapphire to a foursome. In Seattle, Sapphire recorded at Kaye-Smith Studios at the same time as Heart. When this version of the band split in 1982, Brooks moved to Los Angeles to develop a solo career, releasing an album titled ''Meredith Brooks'' in 1986, which saw limited success in Mexico. ''Deconstruction'' is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Meredith Brooks. It was released on September 28, 1999, by Capitol Records. Following the album's disappointing commercial reception, Brooks was dropped from the record label. Recording Unlike her involvement with ''Meredith Brooks'' (1986) and ''Blurring the Edges'' (1997), Brooks sought to take more control over the compositions on ''Deconstruction''. With the exception of "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)", Brooks wrote or co-wrote and played lead guitar on every song on the album, in addition to co-producing the album with Dave Darling, David Darling. ''Bad Bad One'' is the fourth studio album by American singer-songwriter Meredith Brooks. It was released on May 21, 2002, by Gold Circle Records. Following the commercial disappointment of her previous album, ''Deconstruction'' (1999), Brooks was dropped from Capitol Records. Brooks subsequently signed to Gold Circle Records and built a home studio to record and produce the album herself, with additional production from frequent collaborator David Darling. ''Bad Bad One'' received little commercial recognition, with Gold Circle Records folding shortly after the album's release. Despite this minimal commercial recognition, the album received praise from music critics. In 2004, the album was reissued under the title ''Shine'' by Kissing Booth Records. David Jeffrey Ricketts (born November 16, 1953) is an American musician and record producer. Ricketts scored hits in the mid-1980s with David Baerwald in their group David & David, notably the track "Welcome to the Boomtown" from their only album ''Boomtown (David & David album), Boomtown''. His romantic relationship with singer Toni Childs formed the basis for her critically acclaimed debut album, ''Union'', which Ricketts co-wrote and produced.
