Mercer (G.I. Joe)
Mercer is a fictional character from the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero toyline, comic books and animated series. He is a member of the G.I. Joe Team as one of Sgt. Slaughter's Renegades and debuted in 1987. Profile His real name is Felix P. Stratton, and his rank is equivalent to that of sergeant E-5. Mercer was born in Spencer, West Virginia. Mercer's primary military specialty is small arms armorer. He was the only known Cobra Viper to defect to the G.I. Joe team and survive. He joined Cobra for the adventure and promise of material gain, but soon grew disenchanted with Cobra's philosophy. He was able to escape from Cobra Island by hot-wiring a hydrofoil and outrunning his pursuers across the Gulf of Mexico. Mercer is proficient with all of Cobra's small arms and explosive devices. Spencer is a city in and the county seat of Roane County, West Virginia, United States. ''G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero'' (also known as Action Force in the UK) is a military-themed line of action figures and toys in Hasbro's G.I. Joe franchise. The toyline lasted from 1982 to 1994, producing well over 500 figures and 250 vehicles and playsets. The line reappeared in 1997 and has continued in one form or another to the present day. It was supported by two animated series (Sunbow, then DIC) as well as a major comic series published by Marvel Comics. The toyline continues to play a large part in Hasbro's G.I. Joe franchise.
