The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 are sports cars which were produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1971 until 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by the automaker after the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, G-Class. They were sold under the SL (R107) and SLC (C107) model names in a variety of names indicating the displacement of the engines. The R107/SL was a two-seat convertible with a detachable roof. It replaced the Mercedes-Benz W113, W113 SL-Class in 1971 and was replaced by the Mercedes-Benz R129, R129 SL-Class in 1989. The predecessor Mercedes-Benz W113, W113 was notably successful in North America, with 19,440 units (40%) of 48,912 total units sold in the US. Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class (R172)
The third generation of Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class, Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class (SLC-Class) (series R172) was launched in Stuttgart in January 2011, with a subsequent public launch at the Geneva Motor Show#2011, 2011 Geneva Motor Show, with international sales starting spring 2011. The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class is a Compact executive car, compact executive roadster (automobile), roadster, produced by Mercedes-Benz. It was released in 1996 and was built at the Mercedes plant in Bremen, Germany, until the end of production in 2020. The former name "SLK" was derived from ''sportlich'' (sporty), ''leicht'' (lightweight), and ''kurz'' (short). With the release of the facelift R172 in 2016, the SLK-Class was renamed to SLC-Class in accordance with the revised nomenclature adopted by Mercedes.
