Wanhua District
Wanhua District (), known in Taiwanese Hokkien as Báng-kah khu () and historically as "Monga" or "Monka", is a district in Taipei, Taiwan. It is Taipei's oldest district. The district is home to historic buildings such as the Bangka Lungshan Temple and the Red House Theater. Wanhua was the first district in Taipei to undergo economic development; many of the buildings and cultural sites in the region are older than those in surrounding districts. A large number of temples in Wanhua are attributed with originating from the Qing era. Wanhua District is divided up into 36 villages () and 722 neighborhoods (). In recent years, the population in the district has been in decline. It also has a higher concentration of mainlanders. Monga (film)
''Monga'' () is a 2010 Taiwanese gangster film. The film features Ethan Juan, Mark Chao, Ma Ju-lung, Rhydian Vaughan and Ko Chia-yen. Set in the titular district (now known as Wanhua District) of Taipei, the film follows the coming-of-age of Mosquito and initiation into gang life in the 1980s. Bangka Park
The Bangka Park (also Mangka Park, Mengjia Park and Mengxia Park) () is a park in Wanhua District, Taipei, Taiwan. Name Mangka Park (from Taiwanese Hokkien) or Mengjia Park (from Mandarin) is a transliteration of the word ''moungar'', a Taiwanese aborigines, Taiwanese aboriginal word for canoe or gathering place for canoe. It used to be known as Park No. 12. History In 1738, the Lungshan Temple of Manka was constructed. In 1923, the land area in front of the temple was forested and named Mengxia Park. In 1956, Mayor of Taipei, Taipei Mayor Kao Yu-shu () gave permission for Hawker (trade), street vendors to set up their stalls at the park. Since then, the park became the gathering place for the vendors and Homelessness, homeless people, which resulted a bad and dirty environment around the park.
