Juan Álvarez Mendizábal (born ''Juan Álvarez Méndez''; 25 February 1790 – 3 November 1853) was a Spanish economist and politician who served as Prime Minister of Spain from 25 September 1835 to 15 May 1836. He is often considered one of the best ''pelotaris'' of all time, dominating the 1st hand-pelota category from 1926 to 1948 and winner of 4 championships (1940, 1942, 1944 and 1946). Concepción Mendizábal Mendoza (March 4, 1893 – November 23, 1985) was a Mexican civil engineer. Mendizábal is recognized the first woman in Mexico to earn a civil engineering degree. She attended the Palacio de Minería starting in 1921 and successfully passed the engineering exam on February 11, 1930.
