Memory Lane Music Group
Memory Lane Music Group is a worldwide independent music publishing company established in 1923 by Larry Spier Sr. History The company began in 1923 when Larry Spier Sr., composed "Memory Lane" with Con Conrad, and Buddy DeSylva (words). It was a huge hit, later revived in the 1944 Abbott and Costello film '' In Society'', and was Spier's entry into the music business. In 1928, he, Sam Coslow, and Andy Britt composed the hit "Was It a Dream". With Coslow, Spier formed the music publishing company Spier and Coslow in 1928. In 1929, the company was sold to Paramount Pictures. The two split, with Coslow becoming a movie producer, and Spier starting a successful career as general manager of Chappell Music. While at Chappell, he was involved in such Broadway hits as ''Oklahoma!'', ''Bloomer Girl'', ''State Fair'', and ''South Pacific''. Larry Stock (born Lazarus Goldberger; December 4, 1896 – May 4, 1984) was an American songwriter. He is most known for being a songwriter and composer for many songs including " Blueberry Hill" which was later recorded by Fats Domino. Early life He was born 'Lazarus Goldberger' on December 4, 1896, in Manhattan, New York City, the son of Adolf Goldberger and Ella Ehrlich. His father was an Austrian immigrant who was a cellist for the New York Symphony Orchestra. His mother's family had emigrated from Hungary to New York in 1888. At a year old, his father Adolf died in 1898. In 1901, his mother Ella Goldberger married Abram Rosenstock. Ervin Drake
Ervin Drake (born Ervin Maurice Druckman; April 3, 1919 – January 15, 2015) was an American songwriter whose works include such American Songbook standards as " I Believe" and " It Was a Very Good Year". He wrote in a variety of styles and his work has been recorded by musicians around the world. In 1983, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. George David Weiss
George David Weiss (April 9, 1921 – August 23, 2010) was an American songwriter and arranger, who was a president of the Songwriters Guild of America. He is an inductee in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Biography Weiss was born in a Jewish family and originally planned a career as a lawyer or accountant; however, out of a love for music, he was led to attend the Juilliard School of Music, developing his skills in writing and arranging. After leaving school, he became an arranger for such big bands as those of Stan Kenton, Vincent Lopez, and Johnny Richards. He was a prolific songwriter during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, with many of his songs attaining high rankings on the charts. Skipworth & Turner were a United States male musical duo, consisting of Rodney Skipworth (from Syracuse, New York) and Phil Turner (from Memphis, Tennessee). Their biggest hit came in 1985, when they went to No. 1 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart with " Thinking About Your Love". The track reached No. 24 in the UK Singles Chart, and a further release, "Make It Last" peaked at No. 60 in the same chart in January 1989. The duo disbanded in 1991. The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) () is an American not-for-profit performance-rights organization (PRO) that collectively licenses the public performance rights of its members' musical works to venues, broadcasters, and digital streaming services (music stores). ASCAP collects licensing fees from users of music created by ASCAP members, then distributes them back to its members as royalties. In effect, the arrangement is the product of a compromise: when a song is played, the user does not have to pay the copyright holder directly, nor does the music creator have to bill a radio station for use of a song. Lime (band)
Lime is a Canadian disco band from Montreal, Montreal, Quebec. The group was originally composed of married couple Denis and Denyse LePage who had a 1981 number one US Dance hit with "Your Love (Lime song), Your Love". They continued to perform as recently as 2018, although others have also performed under the name of Lime.
