Western Australian Legislative Assembly
The Western Australian Legislative Assembly, or lower house, is one of the two chambers of the Parliament of Western Australia, an Australian state. The Parliament sits in Parliament House, Perth, Parliament House in the Western Australian capital, Perth. The district was mostly based in the rural north-west of Western Australia. Emily Hamilton (politician)
Emily Louise Hamilton (born 14 January 1985) is an Australian politician. She has been a Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly since the 2017 state election, representing the electorate of Joondalup. Early life and education Hamilton was born in Perth in 1985, the eldest of five children, to David and Angela Hamilton. Her father is a small business owner, and her mother is a spinal trained nurse. Hamilton graduated from Sacred Heart College, Sorento, in 2002. Hamilton graduated with a Bachelor of Politics and Law from University of Notre Dame Australia in 2006. Career From 2006, Hamilton spent ten years working for state Labor MPs Tony O'Gorman, Ken Travers and Laine McDonald, first as a research officer, and then as an electorate officer. Mirrabooka is a former electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. Geography The district is based in the northern suburbs of Perth. It includes Alexander Heights, Balga, Koondoola, Mirrabooka, Westminster and parts of Ballajura and Dianella. History The district was created for the 2013 state election, essentially as a new name for the district of Nollamara. It was won by sitting Nollamara MP Janine Freeman. Freeman retired from politics at the 2021 state election, and was replaced by Labor's Meredith Hammat. In 2023, Mirrabooka was abolished for the 2025 state election, and was mostly replaced by the new electoral district of Girrawheen. An earlier incarnation of the district existed from 1968 to 1974. Central Wheatbelt is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is centrally located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Politically, Central Wheatbelt is a safe National Party seat. History Central Wheatbelt was first created for the 2008 state election. It was essentially an amalgamation of the abolished National-held districts of Avon and Merredin, although parts of each ended up in neighbouring districts. Roughly half the new district's voters came from each of the two former districts. The original proposal had the newly created district persisting with the name Merredin. Mia Davies
Mia Jane Davies (born 3 November 1978) is an Australian politician who was the Leader of the Opposition and leader of the National Party in Western Australia from March 2021 to January 2023. She was a member of the state Legislative Assembly from 2013 to 2025, having previously served in the Legislative Council from 2009 to 2013. Davies was elected deputy leader of the Nationals in November 2013, and replaced Brendon Grylls as leader in March 2017 following his defeat at the 2017 state election. As a result of the Liberal Party's electoral wipeout at the 2021 state election, she became leader of the opposition after Premier Mark McGowan gave her party the official opposition party funding, the first member of her party to hold the role since Arthur Watts in 1947. Electoral District Of Kwinana
Kwinana is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is located in the south-western suburbs of Perth. History Kwinana was first created for the 2008 state election. It was a new urban seat created as a result of the one vote one value reforms. For the most part it combined the southern portion of the district of Cockburn with the northern part of the district of Peel; it also took in territory previously covered by the districts of Rockingham and Serpentine-Jarrahdale. At its creation, Kwinana was calculated to have a Labor Party majority of 69.2% to 30.8% versus the Liberal Party, making it a very safe Labor seat.
