This is a list of members of the Australian House of Representatives from 1996 to 1998, as elected at the 1996 federal election. : The Labor member for Blaxland, Paul Keating resigned before the swearing in of parliament, after losing the election and thus, the position of Prime Minister. The resulting by-election held on 15 June 1996 was won by Labor's Michael Hatton. : The election of Jackie Kelly in Lindsay was declared invalid by the High Court of Australia, but she was subsequently re-elected in a by-election on 19 October 1996. : Labor member John Langmore, member for Fraser, resigned. The House of Representatives is the lower house of the bicameralism, bicameral Parliament of Australia, the upper house being the Australian Senate, Senate. Its composition and powers are set out in Chapter I of the Constitution of Australia. David Beddall
David Peter Beddall (born 27 November 1948) is a former Australian politician. Beddall was born in Manchester, England and was employed by the Commonwealth Bank and was a self-employed commercial finance consultant before he entered parliament. He was elected as Australian Labor Party member in the Australian House of Representatives for the seat of Fadden at the 1983 election, and then for the seat of Rankin at the 1984 election. In April 1990, he was appointed Minister for Small Business and Customs in the Hawke ministry (Minister for Small Business, Construction and Customs from December 1991). The Division of Macquarie ( ) is an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. The division was created in 1900 and was one of the original 65 divisions contested at the first federal election. It is named for Lachlan Macquarie, who was Governor of New South Wales between 1810 and 1821. The division is located to the west of Sydney, and today it covers a large part of the Blue Mountains, as well as the Hawkesbury region on Sydney's western fringe. Kerry Bartlett
Kerry Joseph Bartlett (born 15 April 1949) is an Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Australian House of Representatives between March 1996 and November 2007, representing the Division of Macquarie, New South Wales. He was born in Sydney, New South Wales, and was educated at the University of Sydney and Macquarie University, and has a master's degree in economics from the latter. Before entering politics, he was a school economics and history teacher at Wycliffe Christian School, a university economics tutor and a financial planner. Bartlett did not attain a ministry but was Chief Government Whip from 2004 until 2007. His seat was radically altered ahead of the 2007 election. Phillip Anthony Barresi (; born 8 August 1955) is a former Australian politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1996 to 2007, representing the Victorian seat of Deakin for the Liberal Party. Prior to entering politics he was a registered psychologist and worked in human resources and industrial relations. Early life Barresi was born on 8 August 1955 in Patti, Sicily, Italy. He spent his earliest years in the town of Falcone, arriving in Australia in 1960. Peter Jeremy Baldwin (born 12 April 1951) is a former Australian politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1983 to 1998, representing the seat of Sydney for the Australian Labor Party (ALP). He served as Minister for Social Security in the Keating government from 1993 to 1996. He was previously a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1976 to 1982.
