Melvin Stewart
Melvin Monroe Stewart Jr. (born November 18, 1968) is an American swimming promoter, former competition swimmer and world record-holder who won two gold medals and one bronze medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He is the co-founder and publisher of the swimming news website, SwimSwam, and a producer-director of commercials through his company, Gold Medal Media. Butterfly Swimming
The butterfly (shortened to fly) is a List of swimming styles, swimming stroke swum on the chest, with both arms moving symmetrically, accompanied by the butterfly kick (also known as the "dolphin kick") along with the movement of the hips and chest. It is the newest swimming (sport), swimming style swum in competition, first swum in the early 1930s and originating out of the breaststroke. Speed and ergonomics The butterfly stroke boasts a higher peak velocity than the front crawl, owing to the synchronous propulsion generated by the simultaneous pull/push of both arms and legs. However, due to the pronounced drop in speed during the recovery phase, it is marginally slower than the front crawl, especially over extended distances. Furthermore, the butterfly stroke demands a different level of physical exertion, contributing to its slower overall pace than the front crawl. John Trembley
John Trembley is an American former All-American competition swimmer for the University of Tennessee, and swim coach. After a highly successful swimming career with Tennessee under coach Ray Bussard, Trembley coached the University of Tennessee Volunteers for 23 years from 1989-2012, leading the team to two SEC Championships. Trembley was born in Schenectady, New York, to John and Doris Senelt Trembley on October 23, 1952, lived in Connecticut, and moved to the Loudonville, New York area around 1964 where he would attend Shaker High School in Latham, N.Y. John Trembley Sr. was a Vice-President of W.T. Rose and Associates in Cohoes, New York, and both John Jr.'s parents had been avid swimmers.
