Melon Diesel
Melon Diesel (also known as Treehouse) is a Gibraltarian pop music band originally formed in Gibraltar in 1995, signed by Sony Music, who achieved popularity in Spain. History Melon Diesel started playing under the name of 'Treehouse' in the early 1990s. The name was changed in 1995, based on an alcoholic drink served at a Gibraltar bar, The Admiral Collingwood, where the band used to perform regularly. The group moved to Madrid, Spain in the late nineties to try their luck and eventually got signed by Sony music, Spain. For their first album they moved to London to work with producer Barry Sage, recording ''La Cuesta de Mr. Bond'' at Chapel Studios in Lincolnshire and Moody Studios in London. ''La Cuesta de Mister Bond'' went Platinum selling around 180,000 copies. Gibraltarians (Spanish: ''gibraltareños'', colloquially: '' llanitos'') are an ethnic group native to Gibraltar, a British overseas territory located near the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea. Taxi (Gibraltar Band)
Taxi is a Gibraltarian pop rock band founded in 2005 after the break-up of Melon Diesel. After the quintet's break-up, its members dissolved into two different bands: Taxi (Dylan Ferro, Dani Fa and Danny Bugeja) and Area 52 (Guy Palmer and Adrian Pozo). Whilst the latter moved on to play alternative rock in English, ''Taxi'' kept loyal to Melon Diesel's Hispanic fanbase, composing songs in Spanish. Their songs maintain a certain similarity to those of ''Melon Diesel'' although slightly more upbeat with more pop influences. Barry Sage is a British sound engineer and producer, currently living in Santiago, Chile. Sage has worked with a variety of British and Latin American acts, including the Rolling Stones, Boy George, Pet Shop Boys, Nicole and Charly García. Career Sage began his career as a tea boy at Trident Studios in London, later going on to be a tape operator assisting Elton John and Queen, among others.
