Sweden was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1988 with the song "", written by Py Bäckman, and performed by Tommy Körberg. The Swedish participating broadcaster, (SVT), selected its entry through 1988. Körberg had already represented . Before Eurovision 1988 1988 was the selection for the 28th song to represent at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 27th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1,100 songs were submitted to (SVT) for the competition. The final was held in the Malmö Opera, Malmö Stadsteater in Malmö on 27 February 1988, presented by Bengt Grafström and was broadcast on SVT2, TV2 and was not broadcast on radio. The show was watched by 4,464,000 people. At Eurovision Sweden performed second at the contest and received a total of 52 points and finished 12th. Maria Magdalena Filipsson (born 19 January 1966), known by her stage name Lena Philipsson (), is a Swedish singer, songwriter and media personality. Triple & Touch is a Swedish pop duo formed in Gothenburg in 1983. Anna Charlotte "Lotta" Engberg (born Pedersen; 5 March 1963) is a Swedish singer. She represented Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with "Boogaloo (song), Boogaloo" after winning Melodifestivalen 1987.
