Melodian
Melodian Records was an Australian independent record label founded in 1988 by record producer and music journalist Ian Meldrum and Grammy-winning international Artist Manager Nathan D. Brenner. The name ''Melodian'' is a combination of 'melody' and Meldrum and Ian. Background In July 1987, Australian music television show '' Countdown'' ended. Meldrum had hosted the show since its induction in 1974. Meldrum wanted to start a record label as he felt "so many young pop acts weren't getting a go". Together with his then management team, Nathan Brenner and his staff at Nelson Road Management (Russell White and Kate Bentley), he established Melodian Records and Melodian Publishing. The first two signings were Indecent Obsession (a pop band from the Gold Coast) and Roxus (a rock band from Melbourne). Indecent Obsession
Indecent Obsession (also known as Obsession) were an Australian pop rock band formed in early 1987 in Brisbane with founding mainstays Daryl Sims on drums and Michael Szumowski on keyboards. By 1988, the line-up also included Andrew Coyne on lead guitar and David Dixon on lead vocals. They released three studio albums; '' Spoken Words'' (November 1989) and ''Indio'' (August 1992) both reached the top 50 on the ARIA albums chart. In 1990, ''Spoken Words'' was repackaged for the United States market as ''Indecent Obsession'', which reached the ''Billboard'' 200. In May 1989, they issued their debut single, " Say Goodbye", which peaked at No. 6 on the ARIA singles chart – their highest position in Australia. Ian Meldrum
Ian Alexander "Molly" Meldrum AM (born 29 January 1943) is an Australian music critic, journalist, record producer and musical entrepreneur. He was the talent coordinator, on-air interviewer, and music news presenter on the former popular music program '' Countdown'' (1974–87) and is widely recognised for his trademark Stetson hat, which he has regularly worn in public since the 1980s (it is commonly mistaken for an Akubra). Meldrum has featured on the Australian music scene since the mid-1960s, first with his writing for ''Go-Set'' (1966–74), a weekly teen newspaper, then during his tenure with ''Countdown'' and subsequent media contributions. Roxus were an Australian hard rock band which existed between 1987 and 1993. Members included Juno Roxas - lead vocals, Dragan Stanić - guitar, Darren Danielson - drums, John 'Stones' Nixon - bass guitar and Andy Shanahan - keyboards. Their debut album, '' Nightstreet'' was released in August 1991 and peaked at No. 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Juno Roxas
Juno Roxas (born 4 May 1967) is an Australian musician and actor. Life and career Roxas was one of the founding members of glam metal band, Roxus (1987–1993). The group released an album in 1991, titled '' Nightstreet'' which reached number 5 on the ARIA charts. In 1989, Roxas starred in the Australian AFI award nominated feature film, '' Mull'' and recorded versions of " The Wanderer", " Jingle Bell Rock" and "All Right Now" for the film's soundtrack. Roxas launched his solo career in 1993 on the Melodian label with the single "Almost Summer" and album, ''Far From Here'' 1994.
