Mellor Brook
Mellor Brook is a village which straddles the borders of the Boroughs of Ribble Valley and South Ribble in Lancashire, England. The village population at the 2011 census was 2,467. The village of Mellor Brook is approximately north west of Blackburn. The geographical area of Mellor Brook is quite small, covering an area of approximately . There is a bakery located in the heart of Mellor Brook. The bakery is well known and successful and started in the village, eventually moving its main operation to nearby Ramsgreave, but still retaining its original village shop. The shop's pies are a favourite of the English fashion designer, Wayne Hemingway. In recent years, both the village's newsagent and post office have closed. Mellor, Lancashire
Mellor is a village situated in the Borough of Ribble Valley in Lancashire, England. The population of the civil parish at the census of 2011 was 2,262. It is reasonably large in size for a village, with two churches, one Church of England Parish Church (St Mary's) and one Methodist, as well as a primary school, three public houses and a hotel. In addition to this there is a post office and general store, a hair salon and a beauty salon, a high quality butcher's shop, a pharmacy and a private hire company. There are also three disused quarries, and the remains of an eel farm, that was destroyed by fire in the 1990s. Stanley House is a 16th Century building which is listed on the English Heritage Register. It is now a hotel and spa. South Ribble is a borough in the county of Lancashire, England. Its council is based in Leyland. The population, at the 2011 Census, was 109,057. Notable towns and villages include Walton le Dale, Bamber Bridge, Leyland and Penwortham. Ribble Valley is a local government district with borough status within the non-metropolitan county of Lancashire, England. The total population of the non-metropolitan district at the 2011 Census was 57,132. Its council is based in Clitheroe. Other places include Whalley, Longridge and Ribchester. The area is so called due to the River Ribble which flows in its final stages towards its estuary near Preston. South Ribble is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Katherine Fletcher, a Conservative. History The seat of South Ribble was created for the 1983 general election, following the local government changes in the 1970s which saw the creation of the main constitutive borough of the same name. Former Preston North MP Robert Atkins won the South Ribble constituency in 1983 and fought the seat in every election up to the 1997 general election. At that time, in dramatic bellwether fashion, Labour's David Borrow gained the seat on a clear majority, with nearly 26,000 votes, 2,000 less than Robert Atkins' victory in 1983 which was the equally unusual landslide result. Ramsgreave is a civil parish in the Ribble Valley district of Lancashire, England. The parish is located on the northern edge of Blackburn although it is just outside the Blackburn with Darwen unitary district, and although the south and east of the parish is suburban, the parish also includes a rural area including Ribble Valley's only greenbelt land. Wayne Andrew Hemingway (born 19 January 1961) is an English designer and co-founder of Red or Dead. He is also on the Design Council Trustee Board and having been with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) for a decade since its inception (as Chair of Building For Life) is now on the Design Council CABE Committee. The A59 is a major road in England which is around long and runs from Wallasey, Merseyside to York, North Yorkshire. The alignment formed part of the Trunk Roads Act 1936, being then designated as the A59. It is a key route connecting Merseyside at the M53 motorway to Yorkshire, passing through three counties and connecting to various major motorways.
