Mella Jaarsma
Mella Jaarsma (born Emmeloord, 1960) is an artist originally from the Netherlands but now residing in Indonesia. She spent her childhood in the Netherlands, where she also studied at the Minerva Academy of Visual Arts in Groningen. Jaarsma's work comments on social and political issues within Indonesian society, mainly: discrimination, racialism, minorities and identity. Her most well known work are body-covering shelters made out of unexpected materials. For example, frog skins, squirrels, bats, snakes and chickens are employed to create a wearable piece. The garment symbolises protection, and visually represents fear or a need for a 'security blanket'. Her work also alludes to the isolation of human beings and the need for a filtered approach to the world. The Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) is an art museum located within the Queensland Cultural Centre in the South Bank precinct of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The gallery is part of QAGOMA. Limerick City Gallery Of Art
Limerick City Gallery of Art (LCGA; ga, Gailearaí Ealaíon Chathair Luimní) is an art museum in the city of Limerick, Ireland. It is run by Limerick City Council and is located in Pery Square, in the Newtown Pery area of the city. The gallery is housed in a Romanesque Revival building which was constructed in 1906 as a Carnegie library and museum. The Limerick City Collection of Art was established in 1936; it has since taken over the Carnegie building and expanded into a purpose-built extension. Katonah Museum Of Art
The Katonah Museum of Art is a non-collecting institution geared towards visual arts, located in Katonah, New York. It does not have a permanent collection, but holds temporary exhibitions. The museum was founded in 1953, in one room at the local library. In 1990 it moved to a separate building, designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes. The cost of the new building was $5.3 million.
