Mei Ju-ao
Mei Ju-ao (; 7 November 1904 – 23 April 1973) was a Chinese jurist, professor, politician and author. Education Mei was born in Nanchang, in eastern China's Jiangxi province. At the age of 12, Ju-ao was admitted into a school on the site of what is now Tsinghua University, moving from Nanchang to Beijing in pursuit of a good education. After graduating, he received financial assistance to study at Stanford University in California, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts in 1926. While there, he was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society. Mei later received a doctorate in law (Juris Doctor) from the University of Chicago in 1928. After spending a year traveling around Europe, Mei returned to China in 1929. He served as professor of law at Nankai University and Fudan University, as a legal adviser to the Ministry of the Interior of the Nationalist Government, and as a member of the Legislative Yuan. Nanchang
Nanchang (, ; ) is the capital of Jiangxi Province, People's Republic of China. Located in the north-central part of the province and in the hinterland of Poyang Lake Plain, it is bounded on the west by the Jiuling Mountains, and on the east by Poyang Lake. The Tokyo Trial (film)
''The Tokyo Trial'' () is a Chinese film released in 2006. Plot This film was directed by Gao Qunshu and is about the International Military Tribunal for the Far East after Japan's surrender in World War II. The movie presents the trial from the point of view of the Chinese judge Mei Ju-ao. The director and his crew spent more than a year doing research to finish the script, which is based on historical data. It cost 18 million yuan (2.25 million U.S. dollars). This film hired actors from 11 countries, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan and other places, including actors such as Kenneth Tsang and Damian Lau. They recreated court scenes from the trial in Chinese, English and Japanese. It was shown in cinemas and around 100 universities across mainland China to mark the 75th anniversary of the start of Japan's invasion of China. Damian Lau
Damian Lau Chung-yan (born 14 October 1949) is a Hong Kong film and television actor, executive producer and film director. Lau has starred in many television drama series of various genres, produced by Hong Kong's TVB and ATV. Biography Early career Lau enrolled into the actors' training class of RTV (now ATV) in 1971, where he started his early acting career. In 1976, he joined TVB on a contract and began to gain recognition for acting in television drama series produced by the TV station. In 1976, Lau rose to fame for his portrayal of the titular character in '' Luk Siu-fung'', an adaptation of ''Wuxia'' writer Gu Long's novel series of the same title.
