Mehli Irani
Mehli Dinshaw Irani (26 June 1930 – 3 April 2021) was an Indian cricketer, who played as a left-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. Irani played in the Kanga Cricket League for over 50 years. He made one appearance for Bombay in the Ranji Trophy, and also played club cricket for Bombay University and Parsee Cyclists. Career Irani was a left-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. He captained the St. Xavier's College cricket team, and later played club cricket for Bombay Gymkhana and Parsee Cyclists. At Bombay Gymkhana, Irani played alongside Rohan Gavaskar, the son of Test cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. In December 1951, Irani played for Bombay University in a match against the Marylebone Cricket Club. In the match, he played alongside Madhusudan Patil, the father of Test cricketer Sandeep Patil. Sunil Manohar Gavaskar (Marathi pronunciation: uniːl ɡaːʋəskəɾ ; born 10 July 1949), is an Indian cricket commentator and former cricketer who represented India and Bombay from 1971 to 1987. Gavaskar is acknowledged as one of the greatest opening batsmen of all time. Gavaskar was widely admired for his technique against fast bowling, with a particularly high average of 65.45 against the West Indies, who possessed a four-pronged fast bowling attack regarded as the most vicious in Test history. Vijay Hazare
Vijay Samuel Hazare (11 March 1915 – 18 December 2004) was an Indian cricketer. He captained India in 14 matches between 1951 and 1953. In India's 25th Test match, nearly 20 years after India achieved Test status, he led India to its first ever Test cricket win (and the only victory under his captaincy) in 1951–52 against England at Madras, winning by an innings and eight runs in a match that began on the day that King George VI died. Leg before wicket (lbw) is one of the ways in which a batsman can be dismissed in the sport of cricket. Following an appeal by the fielding side, the umpire may rule a batter out lbw if the ball would have struck the wicket but was instead intercepted by any part of the batter's body (except the hand holding the bat). The Baroda cricket team is a domestic cricket team based in the city of Baroda. The home ground of the team is the Moti Bagh Stadium on the palace grounds. Gundibail Rama Sunderam (29 March 1930 – 20 June 2010) was an Indian cricketer who played in two Test matches in 1955. Sunderam was a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a right-handed batsman. He underwent training in the cricket school run by Alf Gover in 1953. He represented India in the unofficial 'Test' against the Silver Jubilee Overseas Cricket team later that year before appearing in Ranji matches. His two Test matches were against New Zealand in 1955–56. He took one of the two wickets when New Zealand made 450 for 2 in the Delhi Test and two more wickets in the next one. Chandrakant Trimbak Patankar (born 24 November 1930) is a former Indian cricketer who played in one Test in 1955. Life and career Born in Pen in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, Patankar attended Bombay University, gaining an MSc. He played first-class cricket for Bombay from 1950 to 1966, then had a season for Maharashtra in 1966–67. A wicket-keeper and lower-order right-handed batsman, Patankar replaced his Bombay wicketkeeping colleague Naren Tamhane, who was injured, for the fourth game of the five-match Test series against New Zealand in 1955–56, but lost his place when Tamhane replaced him for the final game of the series. Narendra Shankar Tamhane (4 August 1931 – 19 March 2002) was an Indian cricketer who played in 21 Test matches from 1955 to 1960. He was a wicket-keeper-batsman. His first-class career extended from 1951–52 to 1968–69. He played in the Ranji Trophy for Bombay from 1953–54 to 1963–64.
