MegaRace 2
''MegaRace 2'' is a vehicular combat racing game developed by Cryo in 1996, for the PC. It was published by Mindscape and is the first sequel of the original ''MegaRace'', which was later followed by ''MegaRace 3''. This game features host Lance Boyle (Christian Erickson), joined by his assistant Lucinda ( Alice Evans). The player is an "enforcer", attempting to win a series of races against computer opponents, by finishing in first place, or destroying their cars, automatically disqualifying them. Microïds, owners of the Cryo brand, made the game available on GOG.com on April 30, 2009 alongside the first ''MegaRace''. Cryo Interactive Entertainment was a French video game development and publishing company founded in 1990, but existing unofficially since 1989 as a developer group under the name Cryo. History Cryo was formed by members of ERE Informatique who left Infogrames (proprietor of ERE since 1986) – among these were Philippe Ulrich, Rémi Herbulot and Jean-Martial Lefranc. Microids (formerly Microïds) is a French video game developer and publisher based in Paris. Founded in 1985 by Elliot Grassiano, it attained early success with games published through Loriciel in France and other partners (including Activision and Broderbund) in international markets. Mindscape was a video game developer and publisher. The company was founded by Roger Buoy in October 1983 in Northbrook, Illinois, originally as part of SFN Companies until a management buyout was completed in 1987. Mindscape went public in 1988 and was subsequently acquired in 1990 by The Software Toolworks, eyeing Mindscape's Nintendo license. When Toolworks was acquired by Pearson plc in 1994, Mindscape became the primary identity for the development group. Mindscape was then sold to The Learning Company in 1998 and bought out by Jean-Pierre Nordman in 2001, becoming headquartered in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. Following the poor performance of its products, Mindscape exited the video game industry in August 2011.
