MeetFactory
MeetFactory is a non-profit organization and contemporary art centre in Prague, Czech Republic. It has four departments (music, theatre, gallery, and artists-in-residence) and the rest of the program is focused on interdisciplinary and educational projects relating to contemporary art. History of the building MeetFactory was founded in 2001 by David Černý. After the 2002 European floods, destructive floods of 2002, MeetFactory evacuated its original premises in Holešovice, re-opening three years later in an industrial building in Smíchov, situated between an elevated road and a railway line. The program started after a substantial reconstruction in 2007. A board composed of the artist David Černý, musician David Koller and film and theatre director Alice Nellis approved the long-term plan of MeetFactory. David Koller
David Koller (born 27 September 1960) is a Czech musician and record producer. Career Music Koller started his career in the early 1980s as the drummer of Jasná Páka and has also played in various other bands, including Žentour, Pusa, and Blue Effect. He founded the popular Czech group Lucie in 1985 and remained there until 2005, when he departed, due to disagreements with fellow members P.B.CH. and Robert Kodym. The group reunited in 2012. In 2008, he was temporarily a touring member of Chinaski, and he leads his own group, Kollerband. Koller has produced music for Miro Žbirka, Koistinen, Alice, Plexis, Walk Choc Ice, Oskar Petr, Lucie Bílá, and many others. Jan Zajíček
Jan Zajíček (born 4 March 1977) is a Czechs, Czech film director, screenwriter and artist. Early life Jan Zajíček was born on 4 March 1977 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He studied fine art at the Václav Hollar School of Art and film directing at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). In 1992, he began to create graffiti art, one of the earliest graffiti artists in Czechoslovakia (under the pseudonym "Scarf" or "Skarf"). His experience with graffiti later influenced his strongly visual cinematic style, characterised by its combination of live-action with animation and visual effects. Between 1993 and 2000, he was a member of the Czech hip hop group WWW, which played in Prague venues including Alterna Komotovka, RC Bunkr, ROXY, and Rock Café, and in 1996 supported Sinéad O'Connor. David Černý
David Černý (born 15 December 1967) is a Czech artist. His works can be seen in different locations around Prague as well as in his own, Prague-based museum, called Musoleum. Early life Černý was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia. From 1988 to 1994, he studied at the Kurt Gebauer Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, and in 1995 and 1996, he participated in the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program in New York, US. In 1994–1995, he took the PSI artists residence in New York, and in 1996, he received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. In 1991, he took a residency of the Swiss government in Boswil. Prague 7 is a municipal district (''městská část'') in Prague, Czech Republic. Smíchov
Smíchov () is, since 1922, a district and cadastral area of Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, and is part of Prague 5. It is on the west bank of the Vltava river.
