Meeksi Parish
Meeksi Parish ( et, Meeksi vald; vro, Miiksi vald) was a rural municipality in Tartu County, Estonia. In 2017, Meeksi Parish, Räpina Parish and Veriora Parish were merged and a new municipality Räpina Parish was formed within Põlva County. Municipalities Of Estonia
A municipality ( et, omavalitsus, plural ) is the smallest administrative subdivision of Estonia. Each municipality is a unit of self-government with its representative and executive bodies. The municipalities in Estonia cover the entire territory of the country. Municipalities in Estonia are of two types: *Urban municipalities or towns (, singular ) *Rural municipalities or parishes (, singular ). There is no other status distinction between them. Municipalities may contain one or several settlements. All but 5 urban municipalities ( Haapsalu, Narva-Jõesuu, Paide, Pärnu and Tartu) plus 1 rural municipality ( Ruhnu) contain only one settlement. Mehikoorma Lighthouse
__NOTOC__ Mehikoorma Lighthouse (Estonian: ''Mehikoorma tuletorn'') is a lighthouse located on the western coast, in the southern part of Lake Peipus, Räpina Parish, in Põlva County, in Estonia. The lighthouse was built in 1906, from a wooden structure which was replaced with ferroconcrete in 1938. The lighthouse is painted solely in white. Järvselja Nature Reserve is a nature reserve situated in south-eastern Estonia, in Tartu County Tartu County ( et, Tartu maakond or ''Tartumaa'') is one of 15 counties of Estonia. Piirissaar
Piirissaar (earlier ''Borka'', russian: Межа, translit=Mezha or Желачек, romanized: Zhelachek) is an Estonian island located in Lake Peipus. It belongs to Tartu County as the Tartu Parish. Piirissaar is the largest island in Lake Peipus with a size of 7.8 km2. It is located c. 15 km from the mouth of the Emajõgi river. Piirissaar is located c. 1 – 2 meters above the water level in Lake Peipus. The island was first permanently settled during the Great Northern War by a group of Orthodox Old Believers seeking to escape the religious reforms of Moscow Patriarch Nikon and trying to avoid enrollment in the military. Most of the island's inhabitants still belong to this confession. The inhabitants of Piirissaar are diligent gardeners and vegetable growers, especially onion growers.
