Medium Brigade (Belgium)
The Motorised Brigade, formerly the Medium Brigade, is a Brigade of the Land Component of the Belgian Armed Forces commanded by Kolonel Lieven Geeraert. Its headquarters is located in Leopoldsburg and Marche-en-Famenne After World War II, the unit was known as the Brigade Bevrijding, 1er Groupement d'Infanterie and finally as the 1re Brigade d'Infanterie, later the 1re Brigade d'Infanterie Blindée. The brigade consists of 5 manoeuvre battalions. Equipment: In the future, the brigade will be equipped with various motorised vehicles, including 44x pandur I, 382x VBMR griffon, 60x EBRC Jaguar and hundreds of Oskosch command and liaison vehicles. ATF Dingo
The ATF Dingo is a German heavily armored military MRAP infantry mobility vehicle based on a Unimog chassis with a V-hull design, produced by the company KNDS Deutschland (formerly Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW)). The first prototype of the Dingo 1 was completed in 1995 and the first production Dingo 1 entered service in 2000 with the German Army. It is designed to withstand land mines, rifle fire, artillery fragments and CBRN defense, NBC-threats. ISTAR stands for Military intelligence, intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance. In its macroscopic sense, #ISTAR, ISTAR is a practice that links several battlefield functions together to assist a combat force in employing its sensors and managing the information they gather. Information is collected on the battlefield through systematic observation by deployed soldiers and a variety of electronic sensors. Zwijndrecht () is a former Municipalities of Belgium, municipality located in the Flemish region, Flemish province of East Flanders, in Belgium. Amay (; ) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Liège, Belgium. On 1 January 2006 Amay had a total population of approximately 14,231. The LG1 is a modern 105 mm towed howitzer designed and produced by GIAT Industries (now Nexter group) of France. Design The LG1 howitzer is a 105 mm towed artillery piece that features both low weight and a high level of accuracy over long distances. Its lightweight construction gives the barrel a relatively short lifespan. The equivalent full charge (EFC) count is suggested to be approximately 7,500; however, during fire and practice, has yielded only around 1,500 EFCs. The gun was specifically designed for use by rapid deployment forces with attributes such as ruggedness, ease of operation and reduced weight. It can fire all NATO standard 105 mm ammunition up to a range of using HE-ER G3 base bleed rounds. Mortier started in 1898 as a vending agent for the Parisian organ builder Gavioli & Cie, in a period when the French and German organ industry was in full bloom. Theophile Mortier was originally the manager of a dance hall, in which there was always a Gavioli organ playing. He made it a habit to sell the installed organ after a short while. Brasschaat
Brasschaat () is a municipality located in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium, and in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Brasschaat proper. Artillery Battalion (Belgium)
The Artillery Battalion () is the only artillery battalion in the Motorized Brigade of the Belgian Armed Forces. It was created in 2010 by merging all artillery units that remained in the Belgian military. It upholds the traditions of the disbanded 2nd Field Artillery Regiment. The battalion is based in Brasschaat and consists of a Mortar battery, operating 120mm mortars and a howitzer battery, operating 14 LG1 howitzers. A third battery, which operated Mistral surface-to-air missiles and based in Lombardsijde, was disbanded without replacement on 31 December 2017. On 23 December 2018 it came under command and provides fire support to the Motorized Brigade. The battalion supports the other motorized brigade units with observations (employing forward air controllers) and artillery fire. The 12th of the Line (Prince Leopold) – 13th of the Line Battalion (, ) is an infantry unit in the Land Component of the Belgian Armed Forces.
