Discovery NZ Limited is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery that operates several television channels in New Zealand. It operates five national free-to-air television channels and eight pay-TV channels on Sky (New Zealand), Sky. It was formerly known as MediaWorks TV and operated as a subsidiary of MediaWorks New Zealand between 2004 and 2020. In 2019, MediaWorks announced that they were selling their television operations. In September 2020, Discovery, Inc. purchased MediaWorks TV with the acquisition being finalised on 1 December 2020. The subsidiary was subsequently rebranded as Discovery New Zealand, and the company was renamed to Discovery NZ Limited. Mike McRoberts
Mike McRoberts (born 1966) is a New Zealand television journalist and news anchor. He presented ''Newshub Live at 6pm'' on Three from 2005 until its last broadcast on 5 July 2024. McRoberts is the Te Ao Māori Editor at the National Business Review Early life McRoberts was born in 1966 to a Ngāti Kahungunu father and Pākehā mother. The 2000 documentary ''White Sheep'', written and produced by McRoberts, tells the story of Māori men like McRoberts' father who moved to Christchurch from Wairoa as teenagers in the 1950s and 1960s. He attended Manning Intermediate and Hillmorton High School in Christchurch. He completed a journalism diploma from the New Zealand Broadcasting School at CPIT (now Ara Institute of Canterbury) in 1986. The COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand was part of COVID-19 pandemic, the pandemic of COVID-19, coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by SARS-CoV-2, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (). The first case of the disease in New Zealand was reported on 28 February 2020. The country recorded over 2,274,370 cases (2,217,047 confirmed and 57,323 probable). The Breeze is a New Zealand radio station playing an adult contemporary music format owned by MediaWorks New Zealand. It airs in 25 markets across New Zealand and each market shows a mix of local and network programmes. The station reached its highest ever audience of 671,000 listeners in 2021. The Breeze launched a television channel called The Breeze TV in March 2020, which was acquired in December 2020 by Discovery, Inc. as part of its purchase of MediaWorks' television operations. Eden Terrace
Eden Terrace is an inner city suburb of Auckland, located 2 km south of the Auckland CBD, in the North Island of New Zealand. Eden Terrace is one of Auckland's oldest suburbs, and also one of the smallest. Eden Terrace is under the governance of the Auckland Council. History David Burn (c.1799 – 1875) was the first landowner in Eden Terrace to start subdividing farmland up for residential development. In 1863, he became the first editor of ''The New Zealand Herald'' (then called the ''Herald''). Three (), stylised as +HR=E, is a New Zealand nationwide television channel. Launched on 26 November 1989 as TV3, it was New Zealand's first privately owned television channel. The channel currently broadcasts nationally (with regional advertising targeting four markets) in digital free-to-air form via the state-owned Kordia on terrestrial and satellite. Vodafone also carries the channel for their cable subscribers in Wellington and Christchurch. It previously broadcast nationally on analogue television until that was switched off on 1 December 2013.
