Meagan Hanson is an attorney and former Georgia State Representative from Brookhaven, Georgia. A member of the Republican Party, she defeated Democratic Party incumbent Taylor Bennett in November 2016 in an upset. Hanson represented House District 80, which includes most of Brookhaven along with portions of the adjacent cities of Sandy Springs and Chamblee. On November 6, 2018, Hanson lost her bid for re-election to Matthew Wilson. Taylor Bennett (American Football)
Taylor Bennett (born September 12, 1985) is a former American football quarterback and former member of the Georgia House of Representatives. He began his collegiate career at Georgia Tech before transferring to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. He majored in International Affairs at Georgia Tech. He later enrolled as a graduate student majoring in Information Systems Security at Louisiana Tech in the fall of 2008. Taylor also obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School. He also played football professionally in Sweden in the Superserien. Chamblee, Georgia
Chamblee ( ) is a city in northern DeKalb County, Georgia, United States, northeast of Atlanta. The population was 30,164 as of the 2020 census. History The area that would later become Chamblee was originally dairy farms. During the late nineteenth century, an intersection of two railroads was constructed in Chamblee; one carried passengers from Atlanta to Charlotte, North Carolina, while the other ferried workers and goods back and forth from a factory in Roswell to Atlanta. A settlement known as Roswell Junction emerged at the intersection, and the United States Postal Service decided to establish a post office there. However, feeling the name of the settlement was too similar to nearby Roswell, they randomly selected Chamblee from a list of petitioners for the new post office name. Richard Dean McCormick (born October 7, 1968) is an American politician and physician. He has represented in the United States House of Representatives since 2023. Education and military service McCormick was born in Las Vegas in 1968 and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon in 1986. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University in 1990. He earned his Master of Business Administration from National University in 1999 and his Doctor of Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine in 2010. Sandy Springs is a city in northern Fulton County, Georgia and an inner ring suburb of Atlanta. The city's population was 108,080 at the 2020 census, making it Georgia's seventh-largest city. Walter Matthew Wilson (born January 11, 1984) is an American politician and lawyer from Brookhaven, Georgia who served as the Georgia State Representative for the 80th district. A member of the Democratic Party, he defeated Republican incumbent Meagan Hanson in November 2018. Wilson is only the second openly gay man to be elected to the Georgia legislature.
