Md. Golam Rahman
Golam Rahman (born 7 January 1951) is an educationist, media researcher and communication expert of Bangladesh. He has served as the Chief Information Commissioner of the Information Commission of Government of Bangladesh. He also served as the chairman of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) the chairman of the department of mass communication and journalism of University of Dhaka as well as head of journalism department of Daffodil International University. He is the editor of Bengali daily Ajker Patrika. Birth and education Rahman was born on 7 January 1951 in Sherpur District. He passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Sherpur Victoria Academy in 1966 and passed Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) from Jagannath College in 1968. Sherpur District
Sherpur District () is a district in northern Bangladesh. It is a part of Mymensingh Division. Sherpur District was a sub-division of Jamalpur District before 1984. It was upgraded to a district on February 22, 1984 under Hussain Muhammad Ershad's decentralization programme. Sherpur City is located about north of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Etymology The name "Sherpur" can't be found in ancient history. In ancient times, Sherpur was called ''Garh Jaripa''. Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) is the news agency of Bangladesh. BSS was established on 1 January 1972 by the Government of Bangladesh soon after the Bangladesh Liberation War. Mahbub Morshed is the current managing director and chief editor of the agency. History News agencies or wire services have been in existence in present-day Bangladesh from before its independence.
