McMaster Faculty Of Health Sciences
The McMaster Faculty of Health Sciences is one of six faculties at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The faculty was established in 1974 to oversee the School of Nursing, the School of Medicine, and Graduate programs in health sciences. Today, the Faculty of Health Sciences oversees 5,000 students, 770 full-time faculty, more than 1,800 part-time faculty, and 28 Canada Research Chairs. The faculty is well known for running the most competitive medical and undergraduate program in Canada. In 2023, the MD program at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine received over 5,200 applications for 221 positions. The Honours Health Sciences Program (formerly Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) Program) at McMaster University receives over 8,000 applications for 260 positions annually and was ranked the most competitive undergraduate program in Canada by Master Student in 2022. Paul O'Byrne
Paul Myles O'Byrne is an Irish-Canadian respirologist, the Dean and Vice-President of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Dean of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University. He was the E.J. Moran Chair of Respiratory Medicine at McMaster University Medical School from 1998 to 2016. Early life and education O'Byrne was born in Ireland and grew up in South Africa. He was a childhood asthmatic and that inspired him to pursue asthma research. He went to medical school at University College Dublin and completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in respiratory medicine at McMaster University. He completed further research fellowship training at McMaster University and at the Cardiovascular Research Institute in San Francisco. Blood Donation
A 'blood donation'' occurs when a person voluntarily has blood drawn and used for transfusions and/or made into biopharmaceutical medications by a process called fractionation (separation of whole blood components). A donation may be of whole blood, or of specific components directly ( apheresis). Blood banks often participate in the collection process as well as the procedures that follow it. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is a public university in Shanghai, China. It is affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Education of China. The ''Academic Ranking of World Universities'' (''ARWU''), also known as the Shanghai Ranking, is one of the annual publications of world university rankings. The league table was originally compiled and issued by Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2003, making it the first global university ranking with multifarious indicators. Since 2009, ARWU has been published and copyrighted annually by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, an organization focusing on higher education that is not legally subordinated to any universities or government agencies. The ''Times Higher Education World University Rankings'', often referred to as the THE Rankings, is the annual publication of university rankings by the ''Times Higher Education'' magazine. The publisher had collaborated with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) to publish the joint ''Times Higher Education–QS World University Rankings, THE-QS World University Rankings'' from 2004 to 2009 before it turned to Thomson Reuters for a new ranking system from 2010 to 2013. Norfolk General Hospital
Norfolk General Hospital is a general hospital in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada; it is the only one in Norfolk County. The hospital was founded in 1925. It became an official teaching site for McMaster University's Faculty of Health Sciences in 2009.
