McLaren P1
The McLaren P1 (codenamed P12) is a flagship sports car produced by British marque McLaren Automotive. Styled by American car designer Frank Stephenson, it is the second installment in McLaren's Ultimate Series after the McLaren F1. Considered to be the spiritual successor to the F1, the P1 was one of the first high performance sports cars to be introduced incorporating Hybrid electric vehicle, hybrid technology; the Porsche 918 Spyder having begun taking orders prior to the P1 and the LaFerrari introduced alongside it. First shown as a concept on the 20th anniversary of the F1 at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the P1 made its debut at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show. In similar fashion to the F1, the P1 is mid-engined, rear wheel drive, and has a carbon fibre monocoque. Monterey Car Week
Monterey Car Week is a week in August during which a number of car-related events are held in and around Monterey, California. It is globally recognized as one of the premier gatherings for auto enthusiasts, with auctions, rallies, races, competitions, and car shows all culminating in The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Sunday. The tradition first began in 1950 as an outgrowth of the Pebble Beach Road Race. In the decades since, increasing official and unofficial car events sprang up, drawing an estimated 100,000 attendees in 2024, and hundreds of millions in auction sales. McLaren F1
The McLaren F1 is a sports car that was the first Motor vehicle type approval, type approved road-going sportscar manufactured by British Formula One team McLaren. It was the last road-legal, series-produced sportscar to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans race outright, as well as being recognised as the world's fastest 'production car' when launched. The original concept, by leading technical designer Gordon Murray, convinced then head of McLaren Ron Dennis, to support McLaren leaping into manufacturing road-going sportscars. The McLaren W1 is a limited-production hybrid sports car developed by McLaren Automotive. It is the successor to the McLaren P1. It was unveiled on October 6, 2024. Production is scheduled to commence in 2025, and production is limited to 399 units. Simon Lacey (engineer)
Simon Lacey (born 9 June 1971) is a British engineer who is currently Head of Advanced Engineering at McLaren Automotive having held senior roles for various Formula One teams. Career Lacey graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in engineering, and joined Williams Grand Prix in 1995 as an aerodynamicist. He remained with the team until 1998, being a part of the title winning teams for Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve. In 1998, Lacey moved to the newly formed British American Racing team. Lacey would work again with Villeneuve who left Williams to join the outfit, which struggled in its first season. Switching to Honda engines drove more success, with the 2004 season seeing the team finish 2nd in the constructors championship. Robert Melville is a British car designer who is currently working as the Chief Design officer at Ceer Motors. He previously worked with Jaguar Land Rover, General Motors and McLaren Automotive.
