McKenzie Hawkins
McKenzie Hawkins (born January 8, 1997) is an American rugby union player. She plays at Flyhalf for the United States and competed at the 2021 Rugby World Cup. Rugby career 2014–18 Hawkins attended Maryville High School in Tennessee, and was named to the USA Rugby High School All Americans in 2014. It was her third All-American selection in just two years. Hawkins committed to Lindenwood University for her college career and helped lead the team to three consecutive national championships in both 7’s and 15’s. In 2018, Hawkins was awarded the MA Sorensen Collegiate Rugby Player of the Year. She made her test debut against New Zealand in November 2018. 2022–23 Hawkins was selected in the Eagles squad for the deferred 2021 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Flyhalf
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Players that play multiple positions are called "utility players". Forwards compete for the ball in scrums and line-outs and are generally bigger and stronger than the backs. United States Women's National Rugby Union Team
The USA Women's National Team XVs is the senior national team for the United States in the 15-a-side version of rugby. The team was officially formed in 1987 and is nicknamed the Eagles. An international powerhouse during the 1990s— the Eagles won the inaugural 1991 Women's World Cup and finished second in the two following World Cups in 1994 and 1998. 2021 Rugby World Cup
The 2021 Rugby World Cup was the ninth staging of the women's Rugby World Cup, as organised by World Rugby. It was held from 8 October to 12 November 2022 in Auckland and Whangārei, New Zealand. It was originally scheduled to be held in 2021, but was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the first women's Rugby World Cup to be hosted by New Zealand, and by a country in the Southern Hemisphere. New Zealand were also the defending champions. The tournament introduced changes such as replacement of classification play-offs in the knockout stage with quarter-finals, and a longer scheduling window with at least five days between matches. Maryville High School (MHS) is currently a three-year public high school with grades 10–12. It was founded in 1918 in Maryville, Tennessee and is a part of the Maryville City Schools system. The team played the Women's Six Nations from 2000 to 2006, but they were replaced by Italy for 2007, in order to mirror the men's tournament. 2023 Pacific Four Series
The 2023 Pacific Four Series was the third edition of the Pacific Four Series, an international women's rugby union tournament that served as one of the principal qualification routes for the top two tiers of WXV. The tournament was hosted by Spain, Australia and Canada. The series took place over three months. The first round saw Canada and the United States play the opening match in Madrid on 1 April 2023, followed by Australia hosting New Zealand on 29 June 2023 in Brisbane. The series concluded in Canada with all four teams competing over two weekends in early July for the title.
