Mbombela United F.C.
Mbombela United FC is a community soccer team based in the Mpumalanga provincial of Mbombela, formerly known as Nelspruit. It plays in the National first Division of South Africa. The team was established in 2010 and is wholly owned by the Matsebula brothers, Skhumbuzo and Oupa who are prominent business people in the transport and property sector. It is popularly known as Tingwenyama which means pride of lions in the local SiSwati language. Since its formation, the team has been given first priority for talent showcase to young boys from around the Mpumalanga province more especially from the Lowveld. During the 2012/13 season, The Mbombela United FC won the Mpumalanga provincial SAFA League then known as Vodacom league under the guidance of caretaker coach, Lesego Matsomela and represented the province but failed to qualify for an NFD spot. KaNyamazane Stadium
KaNyamazane Stadium, formerly also named Lekazi Stadium, is a multi-use stadium in the KaNyamazane township, South Africa. It is situated 2.5km from Mthethomusha Game Reserve -also referred to as the SouthWestern corner of Kruger National Park; which is roughly 25km East of Nelspruit, in the Mpumalanga province. The stadium received a significant upgrade from May 2009 to May 2010. Currently, and throughout its previous history, the stadium is used mostly for local events and football matches. However, it was not picked by any teams at the three highest levels of South African football in 2008-10. After being upgraded, it however became the new official home venue of both Mbombela United and Thabo All Stars, in June 2010. The National First Division (NFD), officially known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest league of South African club football after the South African Premier Division. Both the NFD and South African Premier Division are organised by the Premier Soccer League. Structure and rules Seasons 2007–2011 The restructured NFD was divided into two streams, one inland and another coastal – each of which consisted of 8 teams. The winners of the two streams played against each other in a 'final' at the end of the season – the winner of which was promoted to the PSL. SAFA Second Division
The ABC Motsepe League, previously known as the Vodacom League between 1998 and 2012, was founded in 1998 as the current Second Division and the overall third tier of South African football. The competition is regulated by SAFA, and until 2012 had been sponsored by mobile telecommunications company Vodacom. It features 144 teams in total, divided into 9 divisions, borders decided by the 9 geo-political provinces of South Africa: Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu Natal, Northern Cape, Western Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West. Each provincial division contains 16 teams. The winner of each provincial division qualifies for the annual promotional playoffs, where the winners of two streams are promoted to the National First Division. 2014–15 SAFA Second Division
The 2014–15 SAFA Second Division (known as the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons) was the 17th season of the SAFA Second Division, the third tier league for South African association football clubs, since its establishment in 1998. Due to the size of South Africa, the competition was split into nine divisions, one for each region. After the league stage of the regional competition was completed, the nine teams were placed into two 'streams', sometimes referred to as the Inland and Coastal streams. It was won by Mbombela United, who beat Mthatha Bucks 2–1 in the playoff final.
