Mboki
Mboki is a town and sub-prefecture in the Haut-Mbomou prefecture of the south-eastern Central African Republic. History Sub-prefecture On 16 March 1968, the Mboki sub-prefecture was established and later it was abolished on 14 February 1984 due to unknown circumstances. However, Mboki regained the status of sub-prefecture. LRA Insurgency On 24 July 2009, 13 LRA fighters commanded by Colonel Acellam Smart attacked Mboki. They looted the town's market and killed five civilians. However, when they killed 11 years old boy, 200 Mboki self-defence force fighters armed with arrows and machetes attacked the militias. The self-defense group managed to kill three and injure three LRA fighters. As a result, LRA retreated and escaped to the bush. While hiding in the bush, three injured LRA fighters soon died. The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) is a Christian extremist organization operating in Central Africa and East Africa. Its origins were in the War in Uganda (1986–1994), Ugandan insurgency (1986–1994) against Yoweri Museveni, during which Joseph Kony founded the LRA in 1987. Union For Peace In The Central African Republic
Union for Peace in the Central African Republic (UPC, ) is a rebel group in the Central African Republic which controls southern parts of the country. History UPC was formed on 17 September 2014 by Ali Darassa from the ex-Séléka elements. Their initial headquarters was Bambari, however they were forced to retreat on 6 March 2017. On 10 January 2019, they launched a heavy attack on MINUSCA forces in Bambari vowing to recapture the city. They were repelled and in response Portuguese paratroopers raided their base in Bokolobo, seizing some weapons and destroying some checkpoints. On 17 December 2020, the UPC joined the Coalition of Patriots for Change. Central African Armed Forces
The Central African Armed Forces (; FACA) are the armed forces of the Central African Republic and have been barely functional since the outbreak of the Central African Republic Civil War, civil war in 2012. Today they are among the world's weakest armed forces, dependent on international support to provide security in the country. In recent years the government has struggled to form a unified national army. It consists of the Ground Force (which includes the Central African Republic Air Force, air service), the gendarmerie, and the National Police. The Wagner Group (), officially known as PMC Wagner (, ), is a Russian state-funded private military company (PMC) controlled 2023 Wagner Group plane crash, until 2023 by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a former close ally of Russia's president Vladimir Putin, and since then by Pavel Prigozhin.
