Metodi Stamboliski (, born 10 April 1947, Mačevo) is a former Macedonian general who served as the Chief of General Staff of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia (2001–2004). Biography Stamboliski was born on 10 April 1947 in the village of Mačevo, located in the eastern Republic of Macedonia (then part of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia). He had two sisters and three brothers, one of whom also became an officer in the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). Macedonians ( ) are a nation and a South Slavic ethnic group native to the region of Macedonia in Southeast Europe. They speak Macedonian, a South Slavic language.
