Mayor Of Southwark
The London Borough of Southwark ( ) in South London forms part of Inner London and is connected by bridges across the River Thames to the City of London and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It was created in 1965 when three smaller council areas were amalgamated under the London Government Act 1963. All districts of the area are within the London postal district. It is governed by Southwark London Borough Council. The part of the South Bank within the borough is home to London Bridge terminus station and the attractions of The Shard, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe and Borough Market that are the largest of the venues in Southwark to draw domestic and international tourism. Dulwich is home to the Dulwich Picture Gallery and the Imperial War Museum is in Elephant and Castle. Major districts include Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Peckham, Camberwell, and Dulwich. Florence Eshalomi
Florence Dauta Eshalomi (''née'' Nosegbe; born 18 September 1980) is a British politician who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Vauxhall and Camberwell Green, formerly Vauxhall, since 2019. A Member of the Labour and Co-operative parties, she was Member of the London Assembly (AM) for Lambeth and Southwark from 2016 to 2021. Early life Born Florence Nosegbe in Birmingham, she is the daughter of Anthony Nosegbe and of Nigerian descent. She is a lifelong Brixton resident and the eldest of three girls from a single parent family. Her mother, the late Maria Da-Silva, worked as a school teacher until her illness forced her to retire early. Florence supported her mother, who suffered from sickle cell anaemia and kidney failure, as her carer. Helen Elizabeth Hayes (born 8 August 1974) is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dulwich and West Norwood since 2015. She was elected chair of the House of Commons Education Select Committee in September 2024. Early life and career Helen Hayes was born on 8 August 1974 in Liverpool and attended Ormskirk Grammar School. She was an undergraduate at Balliol College, Oxford. After university, Hayes worked as a town planner. She became managing partner of her own town planning company, Urban Practitioners, before becoming a partner at London architectural practice Allies and Morrison. Neil Alan John Coyle (born 30 December 1978) is a British Labour politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bermondsey and Old Southwark since 2015. Coyle has at times been the subject of debate during his time in parliament, after being accused of being abusive to constituents, racist to journalists, and guilty of bullying Labour parliamentary staff. Labour and Co-operative Party (often abbreviated to Labour Co-op; ) is a description used by candidates in United Kingdom elections who stand on behalf of both the Labour Party and the Co-operative Party. Candidates contest elections under an electoral alliance between the two parties, which was first agreed in 1927. This agreement recognises the independence of the two parties and commits them to not standing against each other in elections. It also sets out the procedures for both parties to select joint candidates and collaborate at a local and national level. Miatta Nema Fahnbulleh (born 29 September 1979) is a British politician and economist. A member of Labour Co-op, she was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Peckham in the 2024 general election.
