Maykopsky District (; ) is an administrativeLaw #171 and a municipalLaw #283 district (raion), one of the list of administrative and municipal divisions of the Republic of Adygea, seven in the Republic of Adygea, Russia. It is located in the south of the republic and borders Giaginsky District in the north, Mostovsky District of Krasnodar Krai in the east, the territory of the City of federal subject significance, City of Sochi in Krasnodar Krai in the south, Apsheronsky District of Krasnodar Krai in the west and southwest, and with Belorechensky District of Krasnodar Krai in the northwest. Mount Fisht
Mount Fisht ( rus, Фишт, p=ˈfʲiʂt; ) is a peak located in the western Caucasus Mountains, in the Republic of Adygea, southwestern Russia. Description Fisht forms together with the peaks of Oshten and Pshekhu-Su the so-called Fisht-Oshten massif. The tops of the massif represent the first (advancing from west to east) in the Caucasus alpine-type peaks, that is, rising much higher than the upper boundary of the forest, having a wide belt of subalpine and alpine mountain meadows. In addition, Fisht is the westernmost peak of the Caucasus, which has glaciers on its slopes (Big and Small Fishtinsky glaciers) and considerable rock faults. A stanitsa or stanitza ( ; ), also spelled stanycia ( ) or stanica ( ), was a historical administrative unit of a Cossack host, a type of Cossack polity that existed in the Russian Empire. Etymology The Russian word is the diminutive of the word (), which means "station" or "police district". It is distantly related to the Sanskrit word (), which means "station", "locality", or "district". Structure The stanitsa was a unit of economic and political organisation of the Cossack peoples who lived in the Russian Empire. Each stanitsa contained several villages and khutirs. Adyghe Autonomous Oblast
Adyghe Autonomous Oblast () was an autonomous oblast within Krasnodar Krai, Soviet Union. It existed from 1922 to 1991. Cherkess (Adyghe) Autonomous Oblast was established within the Russian SFSR on July 27, 1922, on the territories of Kuban-Black Sea Oblast primarily settled by the Adyghe people. At that time, Krasnodar was the administrative center. It was renamed Adyghe (Cherkess) Autonomous Oblast on August 24, 1922, soon after its creation.
