Mayfair Sporting Club
Mayfair Sporting Club organises professional black tie boxing dinner events at venues such as the Cafe Royal in Regent Street, Millennium Hotel in Mayfair, the Savoy, The Marriott in Grosvenor Square and other five star venues. During the event there is champagne reception and a three-course dinner followed by live professional boxing and an after-show party. Mayfair Sporting Club was formed by Michael Helliet in 2003. The first event was held on 18 September 2003 at the London Marriott. On 4 November 2004 Mayfair Sporting Club organised an event in support of ex-boxers' charity Triumph over Adversity with Former at the Cafe Royal. World Lightweight Champion and the charity's founder Colin Dynamo Dunne was the guest of honour. Savoy Hotel
The Savoy Hotel is a luxury hotel located in the Strand in the City of Westminster in central London, England. Built by the impresario Richard D'Oyly Carte with profits from his Gilbert and Sullivan opera productions, it opened on 6 August 1889. It was the first in the Savoy group of hotels and restaurants owned by Carte's family for over a century. The Savoy was the first luxury hotel in Britain, introducing electric lights throughout the building, electric lifts, bathrooms in most of the lavishly furnished rooms, constant hot and cold running water and many other innovations. Eder Kurti
Eder Kurti (born 29 October 1984) is a British Professional boxer with Albanian heritage who competes in the supper middleweight division currently residing in Woolwich, London. Kurti turned pro in 2004 and in June 2010 Kurti was a reserve for the Super-Middleweights prizefighter competition at York Hall, Bethnal Green. Alongside flyweight Ashley Sexton, Kurti is trained by Paul Reese at the Monster Gym in Cheshunt and is managed by London Promoter Michael Helliet. National Sporting Club
The National Sporting Club was a club founded in London in 1891, which did more to establish the sport of boxing in Great Britain than any other organisation. Origins The club was founded on 5 March 1891 as a private club. Its premises were at 43 King Street, Covent Garden, London. The founders were John Fleming and A.F. "Peggy" Bettinson, and Hugh Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale was its first president. The club was run under very strict rules regarding both the boxers and the members. Bouts would take place after dinner, before about 1,300 members and guests. The bouts would be fought in silence as no talking was permitted during the rounds. The club built up a great tradition of sportsmanship and fair play. In 1909, the club's president introduced the Lonsdale Belt as a prize to be awarded to the British champion at each weight. Grosvenor Square is a large garden square in the Mayfair district of London. It is the centrepiece of the Mayfair property of the Duke of Westminster, and takes its name from the duke's surname "Grosvenor". It was developed for fashionable residences in the 18th century. Mayfair
Mayfair is an affluent area in the West End of London towards the eastern edge of Hyde Park, in the City of Westminster, between Oxford Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly and Park Lane. It is one of the most expensive districts in the world. The area was originally part of the manor of Eia and remained largely rural until the early 18th century. It became well known for the annual "May Fair" that took place from 1686 to 1764 in what is now Shepherd Market. The Biltmore Mayfair is a 5-star luxury hotel located at 44 Grosvenor Square in the Mayfair area of London, England. It underwent significant renovations starting in late 2017 and reopened on 9 September 2019. Regent Street
Regent Street is a major shopping street in the West End of London. It is named after George, the Prince Regent (later George IV) and was laid out under the direction of the architect John Nash and James Burton. It runs from Waterloo Place in St James's at the southern end, through Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus, to All Souls Church. From there Langham Place and Portland Place continue the route to Regent's Park. The street's layout was completed in 1825 and was an early example of town planning in England, replacing earlier roads including Swallow Street. Nash and Burton's street layout has survived, although all the original buildings except All Souls Church have been replaced following reconstruction in the late 19th century.
