Maybell Lebron
Maybell Lebron (born 23 September 1923) is an Argentine-born writer of short stories, poems, and novels, based in Paraguay. She is the founder of Associated Paraguayan Writers, and has won Paraguay's National Prize for Literature. Early life Maybell Lebron was born in Córdoba, Argentina in 1923, and has lived in Paraguay since 1930. She married Doctor Juan S. Netto, and they had three children. She started writing once her children were older, and as a writer she is self-taught. Literary career Lebron's first book was the poetry collection ''Puente a la luz'', published by Editorial Arandura. This was followed by the short story books ''Memoria sin tiempo'' and ''Los ecos del silencio''. The novel ''Pancha'' is one of her best-known works. She also wrote the novel ''Cenizas de un rencor'', and the biography of her late husband, ''Juan S. Netto: Un hombre''. Córdoba () is a city in central Argentina, in the foothills of the Punilla Valley, Sierras Chicas on the Primero River, Suquía River, about northwest of Buenos Aires. The National Prize for Literature (''Premio Nacional de Literatura'') is awarded biennially, in odd-numbered years, by the , to "books in the genres of poetry, narrative, essay, or theater, written in Spanish or Guaraní, by Paraguayan or foreign authors with at least five years of residence in Paraguay." It was established in 1990 by Law No. 97/90, which also created the National Prize for Science, awarded in even-numbered years. This was updated by Law No. 1149 in 1997. Hugo Rodríguez-Alcalá (1917–2007) was a Paraguayan writer, essayist, poet, narrator and literature critic. Doctorate in Laws and Social Sciences by the National University of Asunción in 1943. ''ABC Color'' is a major Paraguayan newspaper with offices in the city of Asunción. The editorial that publishes the newspaper (Azeta) was founded August 8, 1967 by Aldo Zuccolillo. It is one of the most widely read daily newspapers in Paraguay. Hoy ( sco, Hoy; from Old Norse , meaning "high island") is an island in Orkney, Scotland, measuring – the second largest in the archipelago, after Mainland. The Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library (MCVL; in es, Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes, BVMC) is a large-scale digital library project, hosted and maintained by the University of Alicante in Alicante, Spain.
