Max Warmerdam
Max Warmerdam (born 30 March 2000) is a Dutch chess grandmaster. Chess career Warmerdam earned his FIDE master title in 2015, followed by the international master title in 2018. After qualifying through the "top nine-round event" at the 2019 Tata Steel Chess Tournament, Warmerdam was invited to compete at the Tata Steel Challengers in 2020. He placed 12th with 4½/13 (+2–6=5). During the tournament, he defeated the eventual winner David Antón Guijarro with the black pieces. Warmerdam is coached by Loek van Wely. From 3 to 7 January 2021, Warmerdam participated in the Vergani Cup. He scored 7/9 to take first place, half-a-point clear of the rest of the field. In this process, he earned his third grandmaster norm. Later in January, he acted as to Jorden van Foreest in the 83rd Tata Steel Masters. The Dutch Chess Championship was officially established in 1909, although unofficial champions stretch back to the 1870s. Early years : Official championships The official championship was established in 1909 as a biennial, twelve-player, round-robin tournament. As of 1970, the top five finishers were seeded into the next championship, one player was nominated by the Selection Committee and six came from preliminary qualifying tournaments. Three regional qualifying tournaments of eight to twelve players each were held over four weekends. Grandmasters were not required to qualify to play in the championship.. Stamatis Kourkoulos-Arditis (born 7 June 1998) is a Greek chess grandmaster. He is ranked 13th best player in Greece and his highest rating was 2553 (in April 2023). He won the 2019 Greek Championship. In 2020, he won the 13th Paleochora Open with a score of 7.5/9 He beat GM Maxime Lagarde in round 9 of the European Championship, achieving the final score of 6/11.
