Max Velthuijs-prijs
The Max Velthuijs-prijs (Dutch for Max Velthuijs Prize) is a Dutch award awarded once every three years to an illustrator of a children's book. The award is not given for a particular work, but for the entire oeuvre. The award is named after Dutch painter, illustrator and writer Max Velthuijs (1923 – 2005). The award is awarded by the Stichting P.C. Hooft-prijs voor Letterkunde which also awards the P.C. Hooft-prijs and Theo Thijssen-prijs. The award was established in 2006 and first awarded in 2007. Max Velthuijs
Max Velthuijs (1923–2005) was a Dutch painter, illustrator and writer, one of the most famous children's illustrators in the Netherlands. In 2004 he received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal for his "lasting contribution to children's literature". Velthuijs was born in The Hague on 22 May 1923. Mance Post
Mance Post (11 January 1925 – 2 December 2013) was a Dutch illustrator. She is known for illustrating many books written by various Dutch authors, in particular Guus Kuijer and Toon Tellegen. Career Post made her debut in 1946 as illustrator of the book ''Het boek van Thijs en Claartje'' written by J.A. Schreuder. Post won a Vlag en Wimpel award in 1980 for illustrating the book ''Ik woonde in een leunstoel'' by Guus Kuijer and also in 1984 for illustrating the book ''Het geheim van Toet-Mu-Is III'' by Mansfield Kirby. Post illustrated many of Guus Kuijer's books, in particular his ''Madelief'' book series. Kuijer won two Gouden Griffel awards and one Zilveren Griffel award for three books in the series. The series was later adapted to television (''Madelief'', 1994) and film (''Scratches in the Table'', 1998). Thé Tjong-Khing
Thé Tjong-Khing (; born August 4, 1933) is a children's book illustrator based in the Netherlands. He was born in Purworedjo, Java to a large Chinese Indonesian family. As a child he was interested in the Tarzan comic strips of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Thé attended the ''Seni Rupa'' (arts) institute in Bandung. He came to the Netherlands in 1956 and started as a draftsman at the ''Toonder Studio's'', initially as a volunteer and later as an employee. In addition to his work on Oliver B. Bumble comics, he also contributed to the magazine ''Tina'' and created ''Arman & Ilva''. In 1970 he was asked to provide illustration for Miep Diekmann's children's book. He became a freelance illustrator providing illustration to many children's book authors such as van Guus Kuijer, Els Pelgrom, Sylvia Vanden Heede en Dolf Verroen. Wim Hofman
Wim Hofman (Oostkapelle, February 2, 1941) is a Dutch author. After elementary school he joined the seminary in Sterksel, because he wanted to become a missionary. He started writing books early, and published his first novel, "Welwel, de zeer grote tovenaar & zes andere doldwaze verhalen over ridders, tovenaars, matrozen, krentenbollen, cowboys, indianen & over een planeet" in 1969. On February 2, 1970 he married Toke Mertens and moved to Vlissingen, where he still lives. He has two children. Wim Hofman also illustrates his own books, and paints. He won awards for a number of his books. Notable Books Wim Hofman wrote a large number of books. Some of the important ones are described here. Dick Bruna
Dick Bruna (born Hendrik Magdalenus Bruna, 23 August 1927 – 16 February 2017) was a Dutch author, artist, illustrator and graphic designer. Bruna was best known for his children's books which he authored and illustrated, numbering over 200. His most notable creation was Miffy (''Nijntje'' in the original Dutch), a small rabbit drawn with heavy graphic lines, simple shapes and primary colours. Bruna also created stories for characters such as Lottie, Farmer John, and Hettie Hedgehog. Aside from his prolific catalog of children's books, Bruna also illustrated and designed book covers, posters and promotional materials for his father's publishing company A.W. Bruna & Zoon. Weve has illustrated over 150 books and she has received numerous awards for her work, including the Gouden Penseel award, the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs and the Max Velthuijs-prijs. Career In 1983, Weve made her debut as children's book illustrator by illustrating the book ''Een noom op school'' written by Corrie Hafkamp.
