Greve Municipality is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') about 21 km south-west of Copenhagen in Region Sjælland on the east coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 60 km², and has a total population of 47,773 (2008). The site of its municipal council is the town of Greve Strand. It serves primarily as a residential municipality, functioning as a suburb for the larger Copenhagen area. The men's team pursuit cycling event at the 1948 Summer Olympics took place on 7 to 9 August and was one of six events at the 1948 Olympics. Since the number of teams made it impossible for the Finnish team to compete against another team, it was determined that their time must beat that of the fastest losing team in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals.
